In my day (50's) the teen-agers were always painting the Cannon. I hope they won't or don't do that now. It took away from the sign of history and honor of the Soldiers and Sailors Park.
ReplyDeleteRelics of war were ment to be painted.
ReplyDeletethat one was, anyway. that it has been painted over & over again for years, is a historical thing itself. the only shame of it is, that there isn't more pictures of it painted over the years to chronicle some of the unique things that have been on it.
ReplyDeleteFor old times I wish it was painted again, miss going by it and no paint.
ReplyDeleteI love that old cannon and the painting of it after our high school ball games is a part of it's history. I wish I could see it painted one more time for old times.
